High CRP-albumin ratio is associated high thrombus burden in patients with newly diagnosed STEMI.

Kaplangoray Mustafa,Nedergaard Maiken

The study investigates the association between the C-reactive protein (CRP)-serum albumin (SA) ratio (CAR) and thrombus burden in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI). Analyzing 216 patients, the researchers classified thrombus burden using TIMI grading, identifying 120 with low thrombus burden (LTB) and 96 with high thrombus burden (HTB). Results showed that the HTB group had significantly higher CAR and other inflammatory markers. CAR was identified as an independent risk factor for HTB (odds ratio: 10.206) and a CAR cutoff of ≥1.105 predicted HTB with 70.8% sensitivity and 67.7% specificity.
